What are best practices?

...and why do they matter to you?
More than just hearing aids - hearing care is a treatment process

Working  with an Audiologist  that follows best practices (just like Dr. Cliff does in his clinics) is the key to a life-transforming hearing care experience. Treating hearing loss properly is complex, and requires a provider willing to invest  the time  and resources in your optimal hearing results.

Only about 20% of hearing providers follow best practices  in audiology...choosing a Best Practice Pro Provider ensures that you will receive hearing care that includes Best Practices -- leading to your best hearing in the situations and with the people that matter the most.

Saranne Lentz-Barker, AuD

Dr. Saranne Lentz-Barker completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Kansas.

She completed her Doctorate of Audiology degree at Salus University (previously the Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in 2008. Dr. Barker started her career in a busy medical practice where she worked with Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, Bone- Anchored Hearing Aids and assisted with Interoperative Monitoring.  Although Audiology was her passion, she felt rushed with her patients and wanted to focus on treating her patients with the best care and treatment plan possible which required spending more time with each individual. This passion led her to pursue a career in a private practice setting that would allow her to focus on the patient’s needs and provide patient centered care.  She found that Raleigh Hearing and Tinnitus Center was exactly that place for the past four years. Dr. Barker works diligently to develop unique and individualized treatment plans specific to each patient’s concerns and needs. This is achieved by incorporating evidence based Best Practices, such as Real Ear Measurements and Treatment Validation Measures to guide patients to hear their best. The shared belief of Best Practices of Raleigh Hearing and Tinnitus Center led Dr. Barker to look beyond her environment and to join the Best Practice Pro Network.  Dr. Barker enjoys working with patients with Hearing Loss and Tinnitus.  She works hard in educating herself with the latest techniques by taking courses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Meditation and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and keeping up to date on all brands of hearing devices. She has used the knowledge from these courses to single handedly construct a Tinnitus Program specific to Raleigh Hearing and Tinnitus Center’s best practice approach.  Tinnitus research is ongoing and management options change rapidly.  Dr. Barker prides herself in learning and searching for the latest options available, as well as evaluating their effectiveness to be able to provide patients with the best opportunities to succeed in their journey.  Dr. Barker is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as a member of the American Tinnitus Association (ATA). She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech Language pathologist and Audiologists.

Dr. Barker is originally from Kansas but has been in North Carolina for 15 years.  Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and their Redbone Coonhound, Rosie.
